Foster Myths
vs. Reality

“I’ll get too attached.”

Reality: You probably will, and that’s a good thing.

Attachment means the dog is experiencing real love and connection, sometimes for the first time. And when they find their forever home, you get to be part of that story.

Fosters don’t lose dogs, they help them move on to the life they deserve.

“I don’t have enough time.”

Reality: There are dogs for every lifestyle.

Some dogs need active homes, others are happy with a calm environment. Even short-term or “break” fosters are incredibly valuable.

Any time you can give helps save a life.

“I need the perfect home or a big yard.”

Reality: There’s no such thing as a “perfect” foster home.

Apartments, townhomes, busy households, all can be great foster environments. We match dogs to homes based on what works best for both.

Safe, committed, and loving matters far more than size or perfection.

“I’m not experienced enough.”

Reality: Most fosters start with zero experience.

We guide you every step of the way and are always here for support.

You don’t need to be an expert, just willing to learn.

“I’ll have to pay for everything.”

Reality: We’ve got you covered.

We provide veterinary care, medications, and support. You provide the home, structure, and love.

You’re never in this alone, we’re a team.

“Saying goodbye will be too hard.”

Reality: It can be emotional, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

Seeing a dog find their forever home is one of the most fulfilling parts of fostering.

The goodbye makes room for the next dog who needs you.
