Forest is a 1.5-year-old Terrier Mix with a sweet, gentle personality and a heart that's still learning to trust. After spending over a year in a shelter, he's discovering something incredibly important: humans can be safe, kind, and loving. He can be timid when he first meets you, but once he gets to know you and feels comfortable, his sweet personality begins to shine. He's already formed a special bond with his foster family's teenage son and has shown a real interest in playing with children, making it clear that there's a playful, loving pup underneath that shy exterior.
Forest is a good boy who loves having fun and spending time with his people. He enjoys walks, hiking, tug-of-war, fetch, treats, snacks, car rides, and snuggling with his person at night. He's the kind of dog who can keep up with an active family on an adventure or happily spend the day being a couch potato. He's highly food motivated, very intelligent, and would love to continue learning new things with his forever family. His foster family can even see him having fun with activities like hurdles or other dog sports once he's feeling more confident!
Forest is currently working on a few things, including counter surfing, getting comfortable with technology noises, and learning all about life inside a home. The good news? He's crate trained and potty trained! Like many dogs who have spent a long time in a shelter, he needs patience and understanding as he continues adjusting to a home environment. He's still learning that new experiences don't have to be scary, and he's making progress as he builds trust.
Forest would thrive in a patient, loving home that will respect his shyness and give him the time he needs to fully settle in. He would do best in a home with no children under 10. He doesn't need a perfect family, he needs a family willing to show him, every day, that he is safe, loved, and finally home.

Hi, I'm Forest! I've had a pretty big journey so far, but I'm learning that people can be kind and that home can be a really good place. I might be a little shy when we first meet, but once I get to know you, I have so much love and fun to share. I love walks, hiking, playing tug-of-war, chasing a ball, going for car rides, and snuggling with my person at night. I'm also a big fan of treats and snacks, so if you have those, we're already off to a great start! I'm still learning a few things about being a house dog, but I'm crate trained, potty trained, and ready to keep learning with my forever family.
