Forest is a 1.5-year-old Terrier mix with the sweetest soul, a playful side, and so much love just waiting to be shared. After spending over a year in a shelter, this special boy is finally getting to experience what it means to be loved in a home. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but give him a little time and patience, and you’ll start to see the wonderful dog underneath that timid exterior. Watching Forest learn to trust, grow in confidence, and discover all the good things life has to offer has been so rewarding. Now, we’re hoping to find the person who will help him continue that journey.
 

Once Forest feels comfortable, his fun-loving personality really starts to shine! He loves walks, hiking, playing fetch, tug-of-war, going for car rides, and, of course, snuggling with his favorite person at the end of the day. He’s incredibly smart, highly food motivated, and always ready to learn when you have a tasty treat to offer. He has the potential to be a wonderful adventure buddy, but he’s equally happy spending a quiet evening curled up beside someone he loves. Forest has so much personality to share; he just needs a little time to feel safe enough to show it.
 

Forest is crate trained and potty trained and continues to learn about life inside a home. He’s still getting used to everyday household noises and is working on things like counter surfing, but he’s a young, intelligent boy with so much potential. After spending so much of his young life in a shelter, he deserves a family that understands adjusting to a new environment takes time. He needs encouragement, consistency, and the freedom to settle in at his own pace without being pushed before he’s ready.
 

When it comes to his forever home, Forest would thrive in a calm, patient environment with people who understand shy dogs. He needs a home without children under 10 and would likely do best as the only dog or with a calm, compatible canine companion. We suspect Forest may be a little dog selective, so slow introductions are important. A meet and greet and adoption trial will be required to make sure everyone is comfortable and set up for success.
 

Forest may not be the dog who runs up to every stranger with his tail wagging, but that’s what makes earning his trust so special. Imagine being the person he learns to run toward, the person he looks to when something feels scary, and the person he finally feels safe enough to fall asleep beside. He has already spent far too much of his young life waiting for a family. Now, he deserves someone willing to see his potential and give him the chance to blossom.
