HAZEL
Hazel is a 3–4-year-old American Bully with a heart of gold, the sweetest personality, and absolutely no idea that she’s supposed to be missing out on anything because she has three legs. Seriously, we cannot find a single flaw in this girl, and we promise we aren't being biased! Hazel is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how you got so lucky. She's affectionate, easygoing, relatively quiet, and happiest when she's spending time with her people. Whether she's curled up beside you for a cuddle session or happily playing around the house, Hazel has a way of making everyone around her fall in love.
Hazel came into our rescue after being surrendered to a local emergency veterinary hospital in need of a leg amputation. The veterinary team reached out to ask if we could help cover her medical expenses and bring her into our rescue, and without hesitation, we said YES. Hazel deserved a chance, and we were determined to make sure she got one. Since then, she has been an absolute angel. She has handled so much with such a sweet spirit, and watching her move forward into her next chapter has been incredibly rewarding. And here's the amazing thing: Hazel doesn't seem to notice that she's missing a leg! She loves to play, enjoys spending time with her people, and carries on with life in a way that reminds us just how resilient dogs can be.
Hazel is already an incredible housemate. She is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained, and she gets along with both dogs and cats! She's relatively quiet around the house and loves nothing more than snuggling up with her favorite humans. She has a little storm anxiety, so thunderstorms can make her nervous, but she's generally comfortable with other loud noises. Hazel can also be a bit reactive on leash, but she's working through it and making progress. With patience, positive reinforcement, and continued guidance, we know she can keep building confidence in this area.
As a three-legged girl, Hazel will need a family who understands the importance of keeping her healthy and comfortable long-term. The good news is that many dogs adapt remarkably well to life on three legs, and Hazel is already showing us just how capable she is. Maintaining a healthy weight, providing regular low-impact exercise, and keeping up with routine veterinary care will be especially important to help protect her remaining joints. Because her other limbs carry additional weight and workload, she may have an increased risk of joint strain or arthritis over time. This is not a guarantee that she will develop these issues, but it's something her future family should be prepared to monitor with their veterinarian. Her exercise and activity level should be tailored to her individual needs, and any changes in her mobility or comfort should be checked by a vet.
But please don't let her three legs make you overlook this incredible girl. Hazel is so much more than her medical history. She's a loving companion, a playful friend, a professional cuddle buddy, and a reminder that a different start doesn't mean a lesser life. She doesn't need someone to feel sorry for her. She needs someone who sees the wonderful dog she is and wants to give her the forever home she deserves.
Hazel is spayed, up to date on all vaccines and preventatives, and heartworm negative. She is currently located in the Charlotte area and is ready to find her forever family.

From Hazel:
Hi, I'm Hazel! I'm a three-legged girl with a whole lot of love and absolutely no plans to let a missing leg stop me from enjoying life. I love playing, hanging out with my people, and snuggling up whenever I get the chance. Honestly, I think I'm pretty perfect just the way I am, and my rescue people seem to agree!
I had a bit of a rough start when I needed surgery to remove one of my legs, but some wonderful humans stepped up for me, and now I'm ready for my next adventure. I'm house trained, crate trained, and leash trained, and I even get along with cats and other dogs! I do get a little nervous during thunderstorms, and I'm still working on being my best self on leash, but I'm trying my hardest.
My favorite things are cuddles, playtime, and being near the people I love. I don't need a fancy life or anything complicated. I just want a family who will keep me healthy, love me endlessly, and let me be the happy girl I am.
I've already had my second chance. Now I'm looking for my forever one. If you're looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will fill your home with love and make you smile every day, I hope you'll give me a chance. I have four-legged-dog levels of love to give, even if I only have three legs to stand on!
